Country Of Origin: India
English Name: White Pepper Ground
French Name: Poivre Blanc Moulu
Also Known As: Ground White Pepper
Part Used: Fully ripened berries (peppercorns) of Piper nigrum
Description: White Pepper Ground is produced from the fully ripened berries of Piper nigrum, a flowering vine native to South India and widely cultivated throughout tropical regions. The plant grows as a climbing vine that can reach several metres in length, producing clusters of small round berries that mature from green to red. Once harvested, the outer skin of the ripe peppercorns is removed through soaking and rubbing, leaving behind the pale inner seed, which is then dried before grinding.
After drying, the white peppercorns are finely milled into a smooth, uniform powder. This careful processing preserves the natural colour and texture of the inner seed while creating a free-flowing spice suitable for culinary use. The finished powder displays a light beige to pale cream colour with a soft, fine consistency that blends easily into recipes.
White Pepper Ground remains stable during storage and retains its clean appearance and characteristic pepper aroma over time. The finely ground format allows for accurate measuring and even distribution in food preparations, sauces, and seasoning blends, making it a convenient ingredient for both home kitchens and professional culinary environments.
Uses: White Pepper Ground is commonly used in soups, sauces, mashed potatoes, cream-based dishes, marinades, spice blends, and a wide variety of savoury recipes where a smooth appearance is preferred. It is also suitable for dry rubs, seasoning mixes, infused oils, and culinary craft projects. The powdered format allows for precise portioning, easy blending with other spices, and versatile use in everyday cooking and food formulation, offering consistent quality and uniform texture across applications.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place in a sealed container.
