Description: Serpentina Root Powder is produced from the mature roots of Rauvolfia serpentina, a perennial evergreen shrub native to India and Southeast Asia. The plant typically grows 30–60 centimetres in height and features glossy, dark green leaves arranged in whorls along slender stems. Small white to pale pink flowers appear in clustered formations, followed by oval-shaped black berries. Beneath the soil, the plant develops long, narrow roots with a naturally curved form, which are harvested once fully matured for optimal size and structural density.
Roots are harvested during the dormant season when their fibres are firm and well developed. Fresh roots display a light brown exterior with a pale interior and visible longitudinal striations. Only intact, mature roots are selected to preserve their natural shape and botanical characteristics. This careful selection ensures consistency before processing into powder.
After harvesting, the roots are thoroughly cleaned to remove soil and natural debris. Drying is carried out using controlled air or low-temperature methods to stabilise moisture while maintaining the root’s natural colour and fibrous texture. Once fully dried, the roots are finely milled into a smooth, uniform powder. The milling process is carefully managed to achieve consistent particle size while retaining the botanical identity of the plant.
The finished Serpentina Root Powder is free flowing and visually uniform, ranging from light tan to pale brown in colour. Its finely ground texture allows for easy measuring and blending into formulations. The powder maintains the natural characteristics of Rauvolfia serpentina root while offering a convenient powdered format suitable for a variety of botanical applications.
Uses: Serpentina Root Powder is used in tea-style infusions, powdered herbal blends, and formulations requiring a finely milled root ingredient. It is suitable for cosmetic preparations, craft projects, and educational botanical collections. The powder is also used in manufacturing processes that require consistent, uniform dried root material.
Storage: Keep the Pouch in a dry, cool place.
