Description: Poplar Buds are harvested from Populus candicans, commonly known as balsam poplar, a fast-growing deciduous tree belonging to the Salicaceae family. This species is native to North America and is commonly found in cooler temperate regions, particularly along riverbanks, wetlands, and moist forest edges. The tree develops a tall, upright growth habit with broad, ovate leaves and smooth grey-brown bark. Bud formation begins during late winter, marking the earliest visible stage of seasonal growth before leaf emergence.

The buds form along the branches as elongated, tapered structures with pointed tips and a smooth, glossy surface. Their colour ranges from golden brown to deep reddish-brown, often coated with a naturally resinous layer that gives the buds a slightly sticky texture. Harvesting is carried out in late winter to early spring while the buds remain fully closed, firm, and intact, ensuring the preservation of their natural shape, surface characteristics, and structural density.

After Collecting, the buds are carefully cleaned to remove twigs and natural debris. Drying is performed using controlled air-drying or low-temperature methods to reduce moisture content while maintaining the buds’ shape, colour, and resin-coated exterior. As they dry, the buds become lighter in weight while retaining their compact form and glossy appearance. This process stabilises the buds for long-term handling and storage without compromising their visual integrity.

The finished Poplar Buds consist of uniform, whole buds with a dense structure and distinct elongated form. Their firm texture and stable surface make them suitable for blending, infusion preparation, or decorative use. The buds remain visually consistent and durable, preserving the botanical characteristics of Populus candicans and offering a reliable raw material for a variety of applications.

Uses: Poplar Buds are used in tea-style infusions and botanical blends where whole bud structure and appearance are important. They are suitable for cosmetic and personal care formulations such as infused oils, soaps, and balms. The buds are also used in crafting projects, botanical displays, and educational collections that demonstrate early tree growth stages and bud morphology. Their intact form supports manufacturing and formulation uses that require identifiable tree-derived botanical materials.

Storage:Store in a cool, dry place in a sealed container.
