Description: Plantain Leaves C/S are prepared from the mature leaves of Plantago major, a low-growing perennial herb in the Plantaginaceae family. This plant is native to Europe and Asia and is now widely naturalised across temperate regions worldwide. It grows in a low, ground-hugging rosette, producing broad, oval-shaped leaves with smooth edges and prominent parallel veins that extend from the base to the tip. The plant thrives in open fields, meadows, roadsides, and grasslands, developing new foliage throughout the growing season from spring through early autumn.

The leaves are harvested during periods of active growth when they reach full size and exhibit a deep green colour and firm texture. At this stage, the leaves display well-defined veining and a slightly glossy surface. Harvesting focuses on collecting intact, healthy leaves with consistent size and structure, ensuring uniformity in both appearance and texture before processing.

After selecting, the leaves are properly cleaned to remove soil, stems, and natural field debris. They are then dried using controlled air or low-temperature drying methods to stabilise colour and reduce moisture content. Once dried, the leaves are cut and sifted into equal sized pieces, resulting in a clean, free-flowing product. The cut leaf pieces range from olive green to muted green-brown in colour and retain the natural leaf fibre and veined structure.

The finished Plantain Leaves C/S product consists of lightweight, flat leaf fragments with a slightly fibrous texture and mild, leafy aroma. The form of product allows for consistent blending, ease of handling, and visual uniformity. The product maintains the natural botanical characteristics of the plant, making it suitable for a wide range of formulation, blending, and presentation purposes.

Uses: Plantain Leaves C/S are commonly used in tea-style infusions, herbal and botanical blends, and specialty beverage formulations where leaf structure and appearance are desired. They are suitable for inclusion in cosmetic and personal care formulations such as soaps, bath blends, and skincare products. The cut leaves are also used in crafting projects, decorative botanical displays, and educational plant collections. Their uniform size and natural appearance make them appropriate for manufacturing applications that require consistent dried leaf materials.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
