Description: Passiflora Herb C/S is prepared from the aerial parts of Passiflora incarnata, a perennial climbing vine belonging to the Passifloraceae family. The plant is native to the southeastern regions of North America and grows naturally in warm temperate to subtropical climates. It develops long, slender, twining stems that climb using coiled tendrils, often spreading across fences, shrubs, and open ground. The leaves are deeply lobed, typically three-lobed, with a smooth surface and medium to dark green colour. During the growing season, the plant produces large, intricate flowers with layered petals and filaments in shades of white, purple, and blue, followed by oval fruits once flowering is complete.
The herb is harvested during the active growing and flowering stage, when the vines are fully developed and leaf coverage is dense. At this stage, the stems remain flexible, the leaves are well formed, and the flowers are present or recently opened. Harvesting at this point ensures that the aerial material maintains its natural structure, colour variation, and botanical completeness. The collected material consists primarily of leaves and slender stems, with occasional flower fragments depending on harvest timing.
After harvesting, the aerial parts are carefully cleaned to remove soil, excess vine material, and non-plant debris. The herb is then dried using controlled air-drying or low-temperature drying methods. Drying reduces moisture while preserving the plant’s natural green to olive-green tones and fibrous structure. Once dried, the material becomes lightweight and brittle, suitable for further processing without crushing the leaf surfaces excessively.
Following drying, the herb is cut and sifted into a consistent C/S format. The finished product contains a balanced mix of leaf pieces and stem segments, displaying varied shapes and textures typical of dried vine herbs. The cut size allows for good visual identification of the plant material and supports uniform handling, blending, and infusion. The dried herb has a natural, plant-like aroma and a visually rustic appearance that reflects the climbing growth habit of the vine.
Uses: Passiflora Herb C/S is commonly used in tea-style infusions, herbal and botanical blends, and specialty beverage formulations where visible plant material is preferred. Its cut and sifted form makes it suitable for dry blending with other herbs, flowers, or leaves while maintaining clear botanical identity. The herb is also used in crafting, educational plant collections, and botanical display sets to illustrate vine-based aerial plant structures.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
