Description: Muira Puama is a small to medium-sized perennial tree native to the Amazon rainforest of Brazil and other parts of tropical South America. The tree typically grows 4–10 metres tall with slender, flexible branches and smooth, greyish bark. Its leaves are glossy, dark green, elliptic to lance-shaped, and arranged alternately along the branches. Muira Puama produces small, greenish-white flowers that cluster along the stems, followed by tiny, oval fruits. The bark is harvested from mature trees when the stems and branches reach full development, ensuring uniform colour, texture, and structural integrity. The tree thrives in humid, tropical climates with well-drained, fertile soils and is commonly found in primary and secondary rainforest environments.

The bark of Muira Puama is fibrous, light to medium brown, and slightly aromatic with a natural earthy scent. When fresh, it is pliable and tough; after drying, it becomes firm yet lightweight, maintaining visible striations and natural texture. Harvesting is typically done carefully to remove the outer bark without damaging the tree, ensuring sustainable use. Once harvested, the bark is cleaned to remove residual debris, broken fragments, or loose fibrous material.

After cleaning, the bark is dried under controlled low-temperature conditions to preserve its natural colour, texture, and structural integrity. Once fully dried, the bark is cut and sifted into uniform pieces, resulting in a free-flowing product with consistent size and appearance. The cut and sifted form retains identifiable fibrous strands, slight curvature, and the natural variations of the bark, providing a visually authentic and botanically accurate ingredient.

Muira Puama is cultivated and harvested in tropical regions where humid conditions, stable rainfall, and well-drained soils support continuous growth. The tree is resilient to minor soil variations and produces new stems and foliage regularly. Sustainable harvesting practices allow for repeated collection of mature bark while maintaining tree health, ensuring a steady supply of uniform, high-quality bark for processing into cut and sifted preparations.

Uses: Muira Puama Bark C/S is used in tea-style infusions, herbal and botanical blends, craft projects, cosmetic formulations, decorative displays, and educational herb collections. Its cut bark pieces provide texture and visual interest in herbal mixtures and infusions, allowing for even blending and easy handling. The naturally fibrous bark is suitable for decorative or craft applications such as potpourri-style products or display collections. It can also be incorporated into cosmetic formulations for visual or aromatic purposes, or used in educational contexts to teach plant morphology, bark texture, and tropical tree characteristics. The uniform cut and sifted pieces make it easy to store, blend, and distribute in all applications while maintaining natural appearance and botanical authenticity.

Storage: In an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
