Description: Motherwort is a hardy perennial herb native to Europe and parts of Asia, now widely cultivated in temperate regions worldwide. The plant typically grows 60–120 cm tall with upright, branching stems and a square cross-section common to the mint family. Its leaves are deeply lobed, dark green, and slightly rough to the touch, with a mild earthy aroma. Small, tubular, pink to purple flowers bloom in dense whorls along the upper stems during summer, and the aerial parts are harvested when the plant reaches full vegetative growth to preserve colour, texture, and botanical character.
The fresh leaves and stems are soft but sturdy, with slightly serrated edges and a naturally textured surface. Once dried, the leaf and stem fragments retain their green to olive-green colour and natural form. When cut and sifted, the herb produces uniform, free-flowing pieces with minimal fines or broken material, maintaining visible leaf and stem fragments that are ideal for blending or decorative purposes.
Motherwort is a perennial plant that grows in temperate climates and prefers well-drained soils. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and can tolerate a variety of soil types, including loamy and sandy soils. The plant is harvested during peak growth stages to ensure the best quality aerial material. Once harvested, the material is dried under controlled low-temperature conditions to preserve natural colour, texture, and structural integrity.
After drying, the aerial parts are cut and sifted to produce uniform leaf and stem fragments. Fines and broken fragments are removed to ensure a clean, consistent product suitable for storage, blending, and multiple applications. The resulting herb maintains its identifiable botanical characteristics, including leaf shape, stem texture, and flower remnants when present.
Uses: Motherwort Herb C/S is used in tea-style infusions, herbal and botanical blends, craft projects, cosmetic formulations, decorative displays, and educational herb collections. Its cut leaf and stem pieces provide natural texture and visual interest in mixtures and infused preparations, making it suitable for applications where visible, whole plant fragments and botanical authenticity are desired.
Storage: In an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
