Description: Marshmallow is a perennial herb native to Europe and western Asia, growing 60–120 cm tall with soft, green, slightly lobed leaves and erect stems. The plant produces pale pink to white flowers in summer. Its roots are thick, fibrous, and fleshy, developing underground throughout the growing season. Roots are harvested from mature plants to preserve their natural colour, density, and structural integrity.
The roots are firm and cylindrical with a light brown exterior and pale interior. After drying, they become hard yet retain their fibrous texture and visible grain. The cut and sifted root pieces display natural variation in shape and size while maintaining a uniform appearance suitable for blending, storage, and botanical applications.
After harvesting, the roots are cleaned thoroughly to remove soil and extraneous material.
