Description: Icelandic Moss is a fruticose lichen native to Arctic and sub-Arctic regions of Europe, North America, and Iceland. It typically grows on rocky soils and tundra, forming dense, branched, leaf-like structures called thalli. The lichen is generally pale green to greyish in colour with a slightly rough surface and can grow up to 10–15cm in height. The thalli are harvested when mature, maintaining their natural shape, colour, and texture for use as a botanical ingredient.

The thallus of Icelandic Moss is leathery yet flexible, with branched, irregularly shaped segments. The lichen grows low to the ground, often forming mats across rocks and soil. Harvesting occurs when the lichen is fully developed, preserving the integrity of its branching structures. Once dried, the lichen retains its natural colour and characteristic texture, allowing it to be easily identified and processed.

After harvesting, the lichen is cleaned to remove soil, debris, and extraneous material. It is then dried using controlled low-temperature methods to maintain colour and texture. Once dried, the Icelandic Moss is cut and sifted into uniform pieces, and any fines or broken fragments are removed. The resulting product is a clean, free-flowing botanical ingredient suitable for blending, storage, and a variety of applications.

Uses: Icelandic Moss C/S is used in tea-style infusions, herbal and botanical blends, flavouring preparations, culinary recipes, craft projects, cosmetic formulations, decorative displays, and educational herb collections. Its identifiable branched thalli make it suitable for botanical mixtures, infused preparations, and creative applications where the natural form of the lichen is desired.

Storage:Store in a cool, dry place in a sealed container.
