Description: Horse Chestnut is a deciduous tree native to the Balkan region of Europe and widely grown in temperate regions worldwide. The tree typically grows 15–25 meters tall with a broad, rounded canopy. Its large, palmately compound leaves have 5–7 leaflets with a slightly textured surface. In spring, the tree produces upright clusters of pale flowers above the foliage, followed by smooth brown seeds encased in spiny green husks during summer. The leaves are harvested when fully mature to capture their natural colour, texture, and distinctive botanical form.
The leaves feature a firm yet flexible texture with visible veins and a slightly glossy upper surface. They grow in a symmetrical pattern along the branches, forming dense foliage. Harvesting is done during the growing season to ensure the leaves retain their structure and identifiable characteristics. Once dried, the leaves maintain their shape and colour, making them suitable for blending and decorative applications.
After harvesting, the leaves are cleaned to remove dirt, debris, and excess stems. They are then dried using controlled low-temperature methods to preserve natural colour and texture. Once dried, the leaves are cut and sifted into uniform pieces, and any fines or broken fragments are removed. This results in a clean, free-flowing botanical ingredient suitable for a variety of applications.
Uses: Horse Chestnut Leaves C/S is used in tea-style infusions, herbal and botanical blends, flavouring preparations, culinary recipes, craft projects, cosmetic formulations, decorative herbal displays, and educational herb collections. Its identifiable leaf pieces make it suitable for botanical mixtures, infused preparations, and creative applications where the natural form of the leaves is desired.
