Description: Japanese green tea comes from the perennial shrub Camellia sinensis, native to East Asia, which typically grows 1–2 metres tall with glossy, lance-shaped leaves. The plant produces small white flowers in spring, followed by the collection of young, tender leaves that are carefully harvested throughout the growing season. Japanese green tea is grown in controlled conditions to maintain its bright green colour, subtle aroma, and delicate flavour profile.
The harvested leaves are cleaned to remove stems and debris, then steamed or lightly pan-fired to halt oxidation, preserving the fresh green colour and vegetal aroma. After processing, the leaves are cut and sifted into uniform pieces that retain their natural leaf shape, dark green hue, and slightly crisp texture. The cut and sifted form allows for consistent infusion and easy blending with other teas or botanicals.
After drying, the leaves are sorted to remove dust and broken fragments, producing a clean, uniform product that is free-flowing and visually appealing. This format ensures quality, consistency, and ease of use in culinary, infusion, and blended applications.
Uses: Japanese Green Tea C/S is used in tea-style infusions, herbal blends, culinary flavouring, iced tea preparations, dry tea mixes, cosmetic formulations, and craft projects. Its cut and sifted leaves allow for even brewing, consistent aroma, and a bright green infusion. It is also suitable for blending with other botanicals, creating decorative herbal displays, and formulation development where visually recognizable leaf pieces are preferred.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
