Botanical Name: Tribulus terrestris

English Name: Gokshura Powder (Puncture Vine)

French Name: Poudre de Gokshura (Tribule Terrestre)

Also Known As: Tribulus Powder, Puncture Vine Powder, Tribulus terrestris Powder, Gokharu Powder, Land Caltrop Powder, Ground Gokshura Fruit

Part Used: Dried fruit of Tribulus terrestris

Description: Gokshura is a low-growing annual plant native to warm regions of Asia, Europe, Africa, and Australia, spreading close to the ground with slender, trailing stems and pairs of small oval leaflets. The plant produces yellow five-petaled flowers followed by hard, spiny fruits that easily attach to surfaces. These distinctive fruits mature in summer and autumn and are collected once fully developed, as they form the primary botanical material used for powdered products.

After harvesting, the spiny fruits are cleaned to remove soil and plant debris, then dried to a hard, woody texture. Once dried, the fruits develop a light brown to tan colour and retain their naturally angular form, which makes them suitable for grinding. When milled, the powder has a pale beige to light brown appearance and a slightly granular but uniform consistency.

The dried fruits are mechanically ground and passed through fine sieves to remove coarse particles and achieve an even powder texture. This process results in a clean, free-flowing botanical powder that blends smoothly into dry formulations and mixed botanical preparations.

Uses: Gokshura Powder is used in dry tea-style blends, spice and botanical mixtures, culinary flavouring projects, cosmetic formulations, soaps, scrubs, incense blends, and craft applications. Its fine texture allows it to disperse evenly in powdered blends, making it suitable for formulation development, herbal mix creation, and traditional-style botanical preparations where a consistent plant powder is desired.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
