Description: Elderberry Whole consists of the fully ripened berries of Sambucus nigra, a deciduous shrub native to Europe and western Asia and widely cultivated in temperate regions. The plant produces clusters of small round berries that deepen in colour from green to red and finally to dark purple or nearly black at maturity, at which point they are harvested for drying.
After harvest, the berries are carefully separated from stems and plant material, then cleaned to remove field debris.
