Description: Ginger is a tropical perennial plant that grows from thick, fibrous rhizomes and typically reaches 1–1.5 metres in height. It has long, narrow, lance-shaped green leaves and slender stems topped with clusters of greenish-yellow flowers. Native to Southeast Asia, ginger is now widely cultivated in India, China, and other tropical regions with warm, humid climates and rich, well-drained soil. The rhizomes develop their full aroma, flavour, and fibrous structure after 8–10 months of growth, at which point they are harvested for culinary and processing purposes.
The mature rhizomes are thick, knobby, and firm, with a pale brown outer skin and a yellowish interior. They are carefully cleaned to remove soil and debris, then sliced into uniform pieces. These slices are dried under controlled low-temperature conditions to preserve colour, texture, and natural aroma. The dried pieces are then cut and sifted into consistent sizes, producing a clean, visually appealing product that retains the characteristic aroma and flavour of ginger.
Once processed, the cut and sifted ginger root pieces are uniform in size, slightly fibrous in texture, and light tan to pale yellow in colour. This form allows for convenient storage, blending, and use in both culinary and botanical applications. The aromatic qualities of the rhizome are maintained, making it versatile for multiple preparation methods.
Uses: Ginger Root C/S is used in soups, stews, marinades, spice blends, dry rubs, herbal and tea-style infusions, vegetable preparations, baking mixes, and culinary experimentation. It is also suitable for infused oils, craft projects, aromatic sachets, decorative herb displays, and educational herb kits where visually appealing, aromatic root pieces are desired. The uniform size and preserved aroma make it ideal for both practical culinary use and creative botanical applications.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
