Description: Garlic is a perennial bulb-forming plant that typically grows 30–60 cm tall and produces long, narrow, flat green leaves above the soil, while a segmented bulb forms below ground. Each bulb is made up of multiple cloves wrapped in thin, papery skins that range in colour from white to pale purple. Garlic is cultivated widely across temperate regions and is usually harvested in late summer when the foliage naturally dries, indicating the cloves have fully developed.
After harvest, the bulbs are cured to allow the outer skins to dry naturally, helping protect the cloves during processing. The bulbs are then broken apart into individual cloves, which are peeled, washed, and sliced into uniform pieces. These slices are dried under carefully controlled low-temperature conditions to gradually remove moisture while preserving the natural colour, structural integrity, and characteristic aroma of the garlic. This slow dehydration process ensures the garlic does not scorch or darken and remains suitable for fine grinding.
Once fully dehydrated, the garlic slices are milled into a smooth, free-flowing powder and passed through fine screens to ensure consistent texture. The finished garlic powder is light cream to pale beige in colour with a fine, soft feel that blends evenly into recipes and dry formulations.
Uses: Garlic Powder is used in soups, sauces, stews, marinades, salad dressings, dry rubs, seasoning blends, vegetable dishes, savoury baked goods, spice mixes, and culinary preparations where a fine, evenly dispersing garlic ingredient is preferred. It is also suitable for recipe development, home spice blending, infused oils, flavour bases, and food formulation projects that require smooth texture, easy mixing, and uniform distribution throughout the finished product.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
