Botanical Name: Dysphania ambrosioides / Chenopodium ambrosiodes
Origin: Mexico
English Name: Epazote Herb Powder
French Name: Poudre d’Épazote
Also Known As: Dysphania ambrosioides Powder, Mexican Tea Herb Powder, Chenopodium ambrosioides Powder
Part Used: Ground dried leaves and tender stems of Dysphania ambrosioides
Description: Epazote Herb Powder is produced from the dried leaves and young stems of Dysphania ambrosioides, an aromatic annual plant native to Central America and cultivated in warm regions worldwide. The plant develops elongated, serrated green leaves that are harvested during the growing season when foliage is fully formed.
After collection, the plant material is thoroughly cleaned to remove field debris and coarse stem sections. It is then dried using controlled low-temperature air-drying methods to reduce moisture while preserving the natural green colour and structural integrity of the herb.
Once fully dried, the herb is finely milled into a uniform powder. The finished product is green to olive in colour with a smooth, free-flowing texture, making it suitable for blending, measuring, and storage in a wide range of applications.
Uses: Epazote Herb Powder is used in culinary seasoning blends, spice mixes, traditional food preparations, tea-style infusions, and herbal beverage blends. It is also suitable for cosmetic formulations, botanical craft projects, educational herb kits, and creative applications where finely ground leafy herb material is desired for consistent colour, texture, and botanical presentation.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container.
