Botanical Name: Palmaria palmata

Country of Origin: Canada

Common Name: Dulse Seaweed Powder

English Name: Dulse Powder

French Name: Poudre de Dulse

Also Known As: Palmaria palmata Powder, Ground Dulse, Red Seaweed Powder

Part Used: Finely ground dried fronds of Palmaria palmata

Description: Dulse Powder is produced from the dried fronds of Palmaria palmata, a red seaweed native to the cold coastal waters of the North Atlantic. The seaweed grows attached to rocky shorelines and is harvested from clean marine environments to ensure consistent quality, natural colour, and texture.

After harvesting, the seaweed fronds are thoroughly rinsed to remove salt, sand, and natural debris. They are then dried using controlled low-temperature methods to reduce moisture while preserving the natural reddish-purple to dark maroon colour and delicate structure of the fronds. Once fully dried, the seaweed is finely ground into a uniform powder.

The finished dulse powder is smooth, free-flowing, and consistently coloured, making it easy to blend, measure, and store. Its fine texture allows for convenient incorporation into culinary, craft, and creative formulations while maintaining the natural characteristics of the seaweed.

Uses: Dulse Powder is used as a seasoning in soups, sauces, smoothies, salad dressings, and vegetable dishes. It is also suitable for spice blends, seasoning mixes, educational marine kits, botanical craft projects, and creative applications where finely ground seaweed is desired for colour, texture, and natural ocean-inspired presentation.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
