Part Used: Dried styles and stigmas of Zea mays
Description: Cornsilk Cut & Sifted is prepared from the fine, thread-like styles and stigmas of the maize plant, Zea mays, which is native to the Americas and cultivated globally as a food crop. These silky fibres grow from the developing ear of corn and are harvested when the corn is mature, at which point the strands have developed their characteristic pale yellow to light brown colour.
After harvesting, the cornsilk is separated from the ears and cleaned to remove husk fragments and natural field debris. The fibres are then dried using controlled air-drying methods to reduce moisture while maintaining their fibrous structure. Once fully dried, the material is cut and sifted to achieve a consistent particle size suitable for blending and formulation.
The finished cornsilk C/S is lightweight, soft in texture, and uniform in appearance, with long, fine strands that disperse easily when handled. Its clean, free-flowing form supports accurate measuring, stable storage, and ease of incorporation into a variety of botanical preparations.
Uses: Cornsilk C/S is used in tea-style infusions, herbal beverage blends, botanical craft projects, and educational herb kits. It is also suitable for cosmetic formulations, handmade soaps, bath products, potpourri-style blends, and natural decorative applications where a fine, fibrous botanical material is desired for texture and visual interest.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in a well-sealed container.
