Botanical Name: Cinnamomum zeylanicum

Country of Origin: Sri Lanka

Common Name: Cinnamon Ground Ceylon

English Name: Ceylon Ground Cinnamon

Sanskrit Name: Tvak

Hindi Name: Dalchini Powder

Ayurvedic Name: Tvak

Also Known As: Ceylon Cinnamon Powder, True Cinnamon Powder, Cinnamomum verum Ground, Ceylon Dalchini Powder

Part Used: Ground inner bark of Cinnamomum verum

Description: Cinnamon Ground Ceylon is produced from the inner bark of Cinnamomum verum, an evergreen tree native to Sri Lanka and cultivated in select tropical regions. The tree develops a thin, smooth inner bark that is carefully harvested from mature branches once it reaches the appropriate stage of development. Only the inner bark is used, as it provides the characteristic texture and appearance associated with Ceylon cinnamon.

After harvesting, the bark is cleaned to remove any remaining outer layers and dried using controlled air-drying or low-temperature methods. This drying process reduces moisture while maintaining the bark’s natural colour and structural integrity. Once fully dried, the bark is finely ground to produce a uniform powder with consistent texture and appearance.

The finished powder is light to medium brown in colour and has a fine, free-flowing consistency. Its uniform particle size allows for precise measuring and easy blending in a variety of formulations. The ground form offers stability, clean handling, and reliable performance, making it suitable for both food and other applications that require finely milled cinnamon bark.

Uses: Cinnamon Ground Ceylon is widely used in culinary applications such as baking, desserts, beverages, sauces, cereals, and spice blends. Its fine texture allows it to disperse evenly throughout dry mixes and liquid preparations. It is also used in flavouring formulations, decorative spice containers, potpourri-style blends, and botanical craft projects where finely ground cinnamon and natural colour are desired.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
