Botanical Name: Cichorium Intybus

English Name: Chicory Root Powder

Hindi Name: Kasni Ka Churna

Ayurvedic Name: Kasni Churna

Also Known As: Ground Chicory Root, Dried Chicory Root Powder, Cichorium intybus Root Powder, Chicory Root Flour, Chicory Powder

Part Used: Ground root of Cichorium intybus

Description: Chicory Root Powder is made from the finely ground roots of Cichorium intybus, a perennial herb native to Europe and widely cultivated in temperate regions. The plant grows up to 1 meter tall and has bright green leaves and small blue flowers. Roots are harvested at full maturity to ensure optimal density, size, and natural composition, then thoroughly cleaned to remove soil and other impurities before processing into a fine powder.

After cleaning, the roots are dried using controlled air or low temperature methods to maintain their natural colour, texture, and integrity. Once fully dried, the roots are ground into a smooth, uniform powder. The finely powdered form preserves the visual characteristics of the root and produces a consistent texture suitable for storage, blending, and incorporation into other formulations.

The resulting powder is light brown to tan in colour with a fine, uniform consistency. The processed form retains the natural properties of the root while offering ease of use, precise measurement, and reliable blending. The powdered root is stable, easy to handle, and suitable for both culinary and other applications requiring a finely ground botanical ingredient.

Uses: Chicory Root Powder is used in culinary applications such as beverages, baked goods, and herbal blends. It is also utilized in creative and decorative projects, educational herb kits, and other formulations where a fine, uniform root powder is required for blending, functional, or visual purposes.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
