Common Name: Catnip

English Name: Catnip Herb

Also Known As: Catnip Herb Cut & Sifted, Catnip C/S, Dried Catnip Herb, Nepeta cataria Herb, Nepeta cataria Aerial Parts, Catmint Herb C/S

Part Used: Dried aerial parts of Nepeta cataria, cut and sifted

Description: Catnip Herb C/S is produced from the dried aerial parts of Nepeta cataria, a perennial herb native to Europe and Asia and now widely naturalized in temperate regions. The plant typically grows 50–100 cm tall, forming square stems with soft, grey-green, heart-shaped leaves and small clustered flowers. The harvested herb displays natural green to grey green tones with a light, leafy texture that remains visible after drying.

Nepeta cataria develops branching stems and broad foliage during the growing season, creating a soft, textured plant structure. In cut and sifted form, the herb contains a balanced mixture of leaf pieces and fine stem segments. This format provides manageable fragments that are easy to handle and suitable for applications where visible plant material and natural texture are desired.

Aerial plant parts are collected during active growth, cleaned to remove natural field debris, and dried using controlled air drying or warm air methods to reduce moisture. After drying, the material is mechanically cut into smaller pieces and sifted to remove excess dust, resulting in a consistent grade with uniform texture and appearance.

Uses: Catnip Herb C/S is used in botanical craft blends, decorative jar displays, sachets, natural potpourri-style mixtures, resin art, and educational herb kits. Its soft leafy structure and muted green colour make it well suited for creative projects, visual displays, and botanical preparations that require recognizable dried plant material.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
