Part Used: Dried bark of Rhamnus species, cut and sifted

Description: Buckthorn Bark C/S is produced from the dried bark of Rhamnus species, small to medium-sized shrubs or trees native to temperate regions of Europe, Asia, and North America. The bark is harvested from mature stems, cleaned and dried under controlled conditions to preserve its natural brown to grey-brown colour and fibrous texture. Once dried, the bark is cut and sifted to produce a consistent botanical ingredient suitable for decorative, craft, and formulation uses.

Rhamnus species grow as shrubs or small trees, typically reaching 2–5 meters in height, with slender branches and smooth to slightly rough bark. The bark has a dense, fibrous structure that is retained in the cut-and-sifted form, allowing for easy handling and integration into blends or visual displays. Its natural colour and texture remain evident, making it suitable for creative and botanical projects where identifiable plant material is desired.

The harvested bark is thoroughly washed to remove soil and field residue, then dried using controlled warm-air or low-temperature methods to reduce moisture while maintaining structural integrity. After drying, the bark is mechanically cut and sifted to achieve uniform size and texture, ensuring a clean, stable botanical material that reflects the natural characteristics of the plant.

Uses: Buckthorn Bark C/S is used in botanical craft projects, decorative jar displays, resin art, layered herb blends, and educational herb kits. Its fibrous texture, natural brown tones, and cut fragments provide visual depth and structural variety in potpourri-style preparations, herbal displays, and other creative applications that benefit from intact plant material.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
