Botanical Name: Sesamum Indicum

Country of Origin: India

Common Name: Black Sesame Seeds

English Name: Black Sesame

Sanskrit Name: Krishna Tila

Hindi Name: Kala Til

Also Known As: Black Sesame Seeds, Krishna Tila, Sesamum indicum Seeds

Part Used: Mature dried seeds of Sesamum indicum, whole

Description: Black Sesame Seeds come from the fully matured seed pods of Sesamum indicum, a traditional oilseed plant cultivated across Africa and South Asia. The pods are harvested once they naturally dry and split open, allowing the ripe seeds to be collected. After harvest, the seeds are thoroughly cleaned to remove natural field residue and dried to maintain their firm texture and deep black colour.

The seeds are small, oval, and uniform in appearance, carrying the naturally nutty aroma characteristic of sesame. Their intact form makes them suitable for culinary use as well as visual and decorative applications. The whole seeds blend easily into various recipes and perform well in craft arrangements and educational seed displays.

Processing includes drying the mature pods, separating the seeds, mechanically cleaning them, and using controlled warm air drying for stability. The product contains no additives, fillers, or additional processing agents, consisting solely of pure black sesame seeds.

Uses: Black Sesame Seeds are used in baked goods, confectionery toppings, spice blends, savoury dishes, and traditional culinary preparations. They are also suitable for decorative jar arrangements, craft mixtures, and educational kits that require whole seeds for visual or instructional purposes.

Storage:Store in a cool, dry place in a sealed container.
