Description: Siberian ginseng is a hardy deciduous shrub native to the forests of northeastern Asia, growing up to 2–3 metres tall with thorny stems and palmate leaves made up of five leaflets. The plant produces small clusters of purple-black berries in late summer, while its underground root system develops thick, woody sections that are firm, fibrous, and pale brown to beige in colour. These roots are valued for their dense structure, which holds up well during drying and cutting.
After harvesting, the roots are cleaned and naturally dried, developing a firm texture and slightly aromatic character. In cut and sifted form, the root pieces are coarse, irregular in shape, and light to medium brown in colour, making them suitable for blending and visible inclusion in dry botanical mixtures where texture and appearance are important.
The production process involves harvesting mature roots, washing away soil, slicing into manageable sections, and drying at low temperatures. Once fully dried, the roots are cut and sifted to achieve a consistent size range, removing excess fines and dust to produce a clean, uniform botanical ingredient.
Uses: Siberian Ginseng Root C/S is used in herbal infusions, dry tea-style blends, spice and botanical mixtures, craft projects, natural cosmetic formulations, and educational or display collections. Its coarse texture makes it suitable for blending with other roots, leaves, and spices, and for applications where a visible, cut root material is preferred for flavouring, formulation development, and traditional-style botanical preparations.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
