Description: Basil Oil is an essential oil obtained from the leaves and tender flowering tops of Ocimum basilicum, an aromatic annual herb cultivated in warm and temperate regions worldwide. The oil typically appears clear to pale yellow and carries a characteristic fresh, herbaceous, and lightly sweet aroma associated with the basil plant. Its scent profile makes it a widely used botanical ingredient in fragrance work, cosmetic formulation, and aromatic craft applications.
Ocimum basilicum grows as a soft-stemmed herb with broad green leaves and small white flowers that appear during the warmer season. The aerial parts are collected at a stage when the natural aromatic content is at its highest. The plant material is then used directly for oil extraction, resulting in an essential oil that reflects the typical aroma of fresh basil.
Fresh or partially dried basil leaves and flowering tops are harvested, cleaned, and prepared for distillation.
