Description: Nutmeg is a tropical evergreen tree native to the Maluku Islands (Indonesia) and widely cultivated in tropical regions around the world. The tree typically grows 10–20 metres tall with glossy, dark green leaves, small yellowish flowers, and fleshy fruits that split open to reveal the seed (nutmeg) surrounded by a red aril (mace). The seeds are harvested when fully mature, retaining their hard texture, natural brown colour, and characteristic aroma.

Fresh nutmeg seeds are hard, oval-shaped, and covered in a thin brown skin. They have a warm, sweet, and slightly spicy aroma with a dense, firm texture. After harvesting, the seeds are cleaned to remove outer fruit remnants, dried under controlled conditions to preserve aroma and colour, and then milled into a fine, uniform powder. Controlled milling ensures a consistent texture while retaining the natural fragrance and flavour profile of nutmeg.

Nutmeg trees thrive in tropical, well-drained soils with high humidity and consistent rainfall. They are slow-growing and require several years to reach full maturity before producing seeds. The resulting nutmeg powder retains the aromatic, visual, and textural qualities of the seed, providing a convenient and versatile ingredient for various applications.

Uses: Nutmeg Powder is used in culinary recipes such as baking, spice blends, beverages, sauces, and seasoning preparations, as well as in craft projects, cosmetic formulations, decorative botanical displays, and educational herb collections. Its fine, free-flowing texture allows for even dispersion in dry mixes and liquid preparations. The warm aroma, distinctive flavour, and uniform colour make it suitable for culinary, creative, and instructional applications where the authentic characteristics of nutmeg are desired.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
