Description: Java Tea also known as Cat’s Whiskers, is a perennial shrub native to Southeast Asia, including Indonesia and Malaysia, and widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions. The plant grows upright with slender, woody stems and produces narrow, lance-shaped green leaves arranged oppositely along the branches. During the flowering season, typically in late summer, it develops small, tubular flowers with long, prominent stamens, giving the appearance of fine whiskers. The aerial parts are harvested when fully grown to preserve their natural colour, structure, and leaf shape.

The leaves are soft yet firm, with slightly serrated edges, and grow along thin, flexible stems. Java Tea typically reaches a height of 50–100cm and forms bushy clumps. Harvesting occurs during the active growth period when the leaves are fully developed but still tender. Once dried, the leaves retain their green colour and structural integrity, and the stems remain flexible and identifiable, making them suitable for cut and sifted herb preparations.

After harvesting, the aerial parts are cleaned to remove dirt, debris, and any extraneous material. The plant material is then dried using controlled low-temperature methods to maintain natural colour and texture. Once dried, the leaves and stems are cut and sifted into uniform pieces, with fines and broken fragments removed. The resulting product is a clean, free-flowing botanical ingredient suitable for blending, storage, and multiple applications.

Uses: Java Tea C/S is used in tea-style infusions, herbal and botanical blends, flavouring preparations, culinary recipes, craft projects, cosmetic formulations, decorative displays, and educational herb collections. Its identifiable leaf and stem pieces make it suitable for botanical mixtures, infused preparations, and creative applications where the natural form of the plant is desired.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
