English Name: Chinese Green Tea Cut & Sifted

French Name: Thé Vert Chinois Coupé et Tamisé

Part Used: Leaves of Camellia sinensis

Description: Chinese green tea is produced from the evergreen shrub Camellia sinensis, which grows 1–3 metres tall with glossy, narrow, lance-shaped leaves and small white blossoms. The plant is cultivated across mountainous regions of China where cool nights, misty mornings, and well-drained soils support the slow development of aromatic leaves. Young leaves are harvested several times a year, typically during spring and early summer, when colour, aroma, and leaf structure are at their best.

After harvesting, the fresh leaves are carefully cleaned and pan-fired to halt natural oxidation, a traditional Chinese method that preserves their green colour and soft vegetal aroma. The leaves are then dried and cut into uniform pieces, maintaining their natural shape, medium to dark green tone, and crisp texture. The cut and sifted form ensures even size while keeping the recognizable character of loose tea leaves.

The processed leaves are sorted to remove excess dust and fine particles, resulting in a clean, free-flowing botanical ingredient with consistent appearance and quality. This format is well suited for blending, storage, and preparation in a wide range of tea and botanical applications.

Uses: Chinese Green Tea C/S is used in tea-style infusions, iced tea blends, herbal and floral tea mixes, culinary flavouring, beverage development, cosmetic formulations, craft projects, and educational herb collections. The cut leaves allow for consistent infusion, making them suitable for both single-ingredient teas and blended recipes where natural leaf appearance, colour, and aroma are important for presentation and formulation.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
