Botanical Name: Cinnamomum cassia

Country of Origin: Vietnam

Common Name: Cinnamon Ground

English Name: Ground Cinnamon

Sanskrit Name: Tvak

Hindi Name: Dalchini Powder

Ayurvedic Name: Tvak

Also Known As: Cinnamon Powder, Ground Cinnamon Bark, Cinnamomum verum Powder, Ceylon Cinnamon Powder

Part Used: Ground inner bark of Cinnamomum verum

Description: Cinnamon Ground is produced from the dried inner bark of Cinnamomum verum, an evergreen tree native to Sri Lanka and cultivated in other tropical regions. The tree develops a thin, smooth inner bark that is harvested from mature branches once it reaches suitable thickness. This inner bark is selected for its consistent structure and natural characteristics before processing.

After harvesting, the bark is carefully cleaned and dried using controlled air-drying or low-temperature methods to reduce moisture while maintaining its natural colour and integrity. Once fully dried, the bark is finely milled into a uniform powder. This grinding process creates a smooth, evenly textured product while preserving the botanical identity of the original bark material.

The finished ground cinnamon displays a light to medium brown colour with a fine, free-flowing consistency. The powder is uniform in particle size, allowing for easy measuring, blending, and incorporation into a wide range of dry and liquid preparations. Its stable form supports consistent performance, storage, and handling across culinary and other applications.

Uses: Cinnamon Ground is widely used in culinary applications such as baking, desserts, beverages, sauces, cereals, and spice blends. Its fine powdered form allows it to disperse evenly in recipes and dry mixes. It is also used in flavouring preparations, decorative spice jars, potpourri-style blends, and botanical craft projects where finely milled bark material and natural colour are desired.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
