Botanical Name: Vetiveria Zizaniodes

Country of Origin: China

English Name: Vetiver Root C/S

French Name: Racine de Vétiver Coupée

Also Known As: Khus Root, Vetivert Root

Part Used: Roots of Vetiveria zizanioides

Description: Vetiver Root C/S is prepared from the fibrous roots of Vetiveria zizanioides, a tall perennial grass native to South Asia and widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions. The plant typically grows between 1 and 2 metres tall, forming dense clumps of narrow green leaves above ground while developing long, aromatic roots that penetrate deep into the soil. Roots are harvested when fully mature, ensuring firm texture, well-developed structure, and consistent colour.

After harvesting, the roots are thoroughly cleaned to remove soil and natural debris, then dried using controlled air or low-temperature methods to preserve their natural appearance and fibrous integrity. Once dried, the roots are cut and sifted into uniform segments, producing free-flowing pieces with visible woody strands and fibrous texture. This process maintains the botanical identity of Vetiveria zizanioides while creating a consistent cut suitable for blending and infusion.

The finished Vetiver Root C/S displays a light tan to pale brown colour with coarse, fibrous strands and a natural earthy aroma. The pieces remain stable during storage, retaining their appearance and characteristic scent over time. The cut and sifted format allows for easy handling, accurate measuring, and uniform blending for various applications.

Uses: Vetiver Root C/S is commonly used in tea-style infusions, herbal blends, and aromatic preparations where dried root material is preferred. It is also suitable for cosmetic formulations, bath products, botanical sachets, potpourri, craft projects, and educational collections demonstrating grass root systems and tropical plant cultivation. The cut and sifted format allows for precise portioning, easy blending with other botanicals, and versatile use in both home and professional environments, offering consistent quality and visually identifiable root fragments.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in a well-sealed container.
