Botanical Name: Citrus tangerina

Country Of Origin: Spain

English Name: Tangerine C/S

French Name: Tangerine Coupée

Also Known As: Cut and Sifted Tangerine Peel, Tangerine Peel

Part Used: Fruit peel of Citrus tangerina

Description: Tangerine C/S is prepared from the dried peel of Citrus tangerina, a small evergreen citrus tree native to Southeast Asia and now widely cultivated in warm regions around the world. The tree typically grows between 2 and 4 metres tall, producing glossy green leaves and fragrant white blossoms during spring. Round to slightly flattened orange fruits mature from late autumn through winter, developing bright orange, loose-fitting skins that separate easily from the flesh. Peels are gathered from fully ripened fruits when colour, aroma, and natural surface oils are at their peak.

After collecting, the peels are gently cleaned to remove remaining pulp and natural debris. Drying is done using controlled air or low-temperature methods to preserve the vivid orange colour and natural citrus aroma. After its fully dried, the peel is cut and sifted into uniform fragments, resulting in lightweight, free-flowing pieces with curled edges and visible oil glands. This processing preserves the botanical identity of Citrus tangerina while producing a consistent cut suitable for blending and infusion.

The finished Tangerine C/S displays bright orange to deep amber tones with lightly textured surfaces and aromatic peel fragments. The pieces are visually uniform and stable during storage, retaining their natural appearance over time. The cut and sifted format supports easy handling, accurate measuring, and consistent blending for a variety of applications.

Uses: Tangerine C/S is commonly used in tea-style infusions, herbal blends, and beverage preparations where dried citrus peel adds flavour and visual appeal. It is also suitable for culinary applications such as baking blends, spice mixes, syrups, and infused oils. The peel may be incorporated into cosmetic formulations, bath products, botanical sachets, and craft projects, or used as a natural decorative element. Tangerine C/S is frequently included in educational botanical collections to demonstrate citrus peel structure and seasonal fruit development. The cut and sifted format allows for precise portioning, easy blending with other botanicals, and versatile use in both home kitchens and professional environments, offering consistent quality and recognizable citrus peel texture.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place in a sealed container.
