Description: Sea Buckthorn Berries are harvested from Hippophae rhamnoides, a hardy deciduous shrub native to Europe and Asia that thrives in cold climates, sandy soils, and coastal or mountainous regions. The plant typically grows between 2 to 6 metres in height, forming dense, thorny branches covered with narrow silver-green leaves. During late spring to early summer, small yellowish flowers appear, followed by clusters of bright orange berries that ripen from late summer through early autumn, creating a striking contrast against the pale foliage.
The berries grow tightly along the woody branches and are oval to round, measuring approximately 6–9 mm in diameter. When fully grown, they develop a vivid orange to deep amber colour with smooth, glossy skins and juicy interiors. Gathering is done carefully once the berries reach peak ripeness, ensuring optimal size, colour consistency, and firmness.
