Description: Pygeum Bark C/S is obtained from the outer bark of Pygeum africanus, a large evergreen tree native to the montane forests of Central and Southern Africa. The tree can reach heights of up to 30 meters, with a straight trunk and a broad canopy of glossy green leaves. Pygeum africanus produces small clusters of creamy-white flowers, followed by dark reddish fruits, and thrives in humid, well-drained forest soils at higher altitudes. Bark harvesting is performed on fully matured trees, carefully removing outer layers to retain the tree’s structural integrity.

The bark is thick, fibrous, and rough, with a reddish-brown to deep brown exterior and a paler inner surface. Cut pieces are selected for uniform thickness and length, preserving their natural fibrous texture and layered structure. The bark strips are firm yet flexible, with visible longitudinal fibres that give a distinct textured appearance. Harvested bark pieces maintain the botanical authenticity of Pygeum africanus, retaining the natural pattern and colour variations characteristic of the species.

After harvesting, the bark is carefully cleaned to remove soil, lichen, and extraneous debris. Controlled low temperature drying stabilises the moisture content while maintaining colour, fibre integrity, and structural quality. The drying process produces lightweight, durable pieces that remain intact during handling and storage. The resulting form of bark preserves both the visual and textural characteristics of the original tree.

The finished Pygeum Bark C/S product consists of uniform, free-flowing pieces that are visually consistent and structurally firm. The cut format allows for easy blending, precise measurement, and long-term stability. The bark retains its natural colour, fibrous interior, and layered appearance, making it suitable for various applications that require intact tree bark material.

Uses: Pygeum Bark C/S is commonly used in tea-style infusions and botanical blends, providing visually appealing bark pieces. It is suitable for cosmetic and personal care formulations such as soaps, bath products, and scrubs where fibrous plant material enhances texture and presentation. The bark is also used in craft projects, decorative displays, and educational collections that illustrate tree bark morphology. Its uniform cut-and-sifted form makes it ideal for blending, packaging, and formulation processes requiring stable, intact bark material.

Storage:Store in a cool, dry place in a sealed container.
