Description: Psyllium Husk Powder is derived from the outer seed coverings of Plantago ovata, a fast-growing herbaceous plant in the Plantaginaceae family. Native to India and parts of Iran, Plantago ovata thrives in arid to semi-arid climates, producing narrow, lance-shaped leaves in rosettes and small, spike-like flowering stalks. The seeds are harvested when the capsules are fully matured and dry, revealing tiny oval seeds with a tough outer husk that can be separated mechanically for processing.
The husks are light, fibrous, and naturally off-white to pale beige in colour. After selecting, the seed husks are thoroughly cleaned to remove residual seed fragments and impurities. They are then dried using controlled low-temperature methods to maintain their structural integrity and fine fibrous texture. The drying process ensures uniform colour and prevents clumping, producing a smooth, lightweight raw material suitable for milling.
Once dried, the husks are finely milled into a free-flowing powder. The powder is light, soft to the touch, and visually uniform, maintaining the natural fibrous characteristics of the husk. Its consistency allows for easy handling, accurate measurement, and even dispersion in various applications. The powder retains the natural appearance and botanical identity of the original Plantago ovata husks.
The finished Psyllium Husk Powder offers a smooth, uniform texture with subtle fibrous strands visible under close inspection. Its consistent particle size and colour make it suitable for blending, formulation, and precise application in various applications. The powder remains stable during storage and retains its lightweight, free-flowing properties over time.
Uses: Psyllium Husk Powder is commonly used as a functional ingredient in culinary applications such as baking, dry mixes, and blended powders where fibrous plant material is desired. It is suitable for inclusion in beverages, smoothies, and specialty food preparations. Beyond food applications, the powder is used in cosmetic and personal care formulations for thickening, binding, or texture enhancement in soaps, lotions, and bath products. It is also suitable for educational and botanical collections, craft projects, and manufacturing applications that require finely milled plant-based husk material.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
