Botanical Name: Punica granatum

Country of Origin: Egypt

English Name: Pomegranate Peel Powder

French Name: Poudre d’Écorce de Grenade

Also Known As: Pomegranate Rind Powder, Punica Peel Powder, Dried Pomegranate Skin Powder, Ground Pomegranate Peel

Part Used: Fruit peel of the plant, Punica granatum

Description: Pomegranate Peel Powder is produced from the dried outer rind of Punica granatum, a deciduous shrub or small tree belonging to the Lythraceae family. Native to the Middle East and South Asia, the pomegranate plant is cultivated in warm, dry regions with long growing seasons. The tree bears round fruits with thick, leathery peels that mature from green to deep red during late summer and autumn. The peel forms a protective outer layer around the inner arils and develops a dense, fibrous structure as the fruit reaches full maturity.

The peels are collected after the fruit has reached full maturity and the edible portions have been removed. At this stage, the peel is firm, curved, and richly coloured, with a textured outer surface and a lighter inner layer. Only intact peel sections are collected to ensure consistency in colour, thickness, and structural quality prior to processing. Proper selection at harvest helps preserve the natural appearance and integrity of the dried material.

After collection, the peels are carefully cleaned to remove any remaining fruit material and field debris. They are then dried using controlled low-temperature or air-drying methods to reduce moisture while maintaining colour stability. Once fully dried, the peels are milled into a fine, free-flowing powder. The finished powder ranges from reddish-brown to deep brown in colour and has a smooth to slightly fibrous texture.

Pomegranate Peel Powder offers uniform particle size and consistent flow characteristics, making it suitable for blending and formulation applications. The powder disperses evenly in dry mixes and retains the visual characteristics of dried fruit material. Its stable texture and colour support use in manufacturing, formulation, and educational settings where finely milled botanical powders are required.

Uses: Pomegranate Peel Powder is commonly used in tea-style infusions, dry botanical blends, and powdered beverage formulations. It is suitable for inclusion in cosmetic and personal care products such as soaps, masks, scrubs, and bath preparations. The powder is also used in natural colouring applications, crafting projects, and educational botanical collections. Its fine texture makes it appropriate for manufacturing processes that require evenly milled, plant-based powders.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
