Description: Peppermint Essential Oil is derived from the leaves and flowering tops of Mentha piperita, a perennial herbaceous plant in the Lamiaceae family. The plant features upright square stems with pairs of lance-shaped, dark green leaves, which are slightly textured and aromatic. Small purple to lilac flowers appear in clusters along the upper stems during summer. Peppermint naturally grows in moist, temperate regions and thrives in full sunlight with well-drained soil.
Harvesting is carried out during peak leaf development when the aromatic compounds are most concentrated. The aerial parts are carefully collected to preserve the leaf structure and maximize oil content. Timing is critical, as the menthol and menthone levels vary during the plant’s growth cycle.
