Description: Nettle is a perennial herb native to Europe, Asia, northern Africa, and North America, commonly found in temperate regions. The plant typically grows 0.5–1.5 metres tall with erect, branching stems and pinnate, serrated leaves. The underground roots are thick, fibrous, and brown, harvested from mature plants during the dormant season to ensure full development, consistent structure, and natural colour. This careful timing preserves the root’s botanical integrity before processing.
Fresh nettle roots are firm and dense, with a slightly earthy aroma and solid texture. After harvesting, they are thoroughly cleaned to remove soil, stones, and other extraneous material. Controlled low-temperature drying is then performed to reduce moisture content while maintaining the natural fibrous structure, colour, and overall botanical characteristics of the roots.
Once dried, the roots are milled into a fine, uniform powder and sieved to remove coarse fragments, resulting in a smooth, free-flowing product. The powder retains the natural brown colour, fibrous texture, and characteristic aroma of the roots while providing a convenient form for blending, storage, and multiple applications. Controlled milling ensures consistency in particle size, texture, and visual quality, maintaining the botanical identity of the roots.
Nettle roots grow best in well-drained soils, meadows, forest edges, and other open areas with partial to full sunlight. They are hardy and adaptable, producing substantial underground structures during the growing season. The resulting powder is stable, long-lasting, and suitable for use in various applications.
Uses: Nettle Root Powder is used in tea-style infusions, herbal and botanical blends, dry herb mixes, craft projects, cosmetic and personal care formulations, decorative botanical displays, and educational herb collections. Its fine, smooth texture allows for even dispersion in liquids and dry mixes, while retaining the natural brown colour, fibrous characteristics, and botanical authenticity of the roots. This makes it ideal for blending, measurement, and creative applications where uniform quality and identifiable plant origin are important.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
