Description: Nettle is a perennial herb native to Europe, Asia, northern Africa, and North America, commonly found in temperate regions. The plant grows 0.5–1.5 metres tall with erect, branching stems and ovate, serrated leaves. The roots are thick, fibrous, and brown in colour, typically harvested during the plant’s dormant season when the underground structures are mature and fully developed. Harvesting at this stage ensures the roots maintain their natural density, colour, and structure before processing.
Fresh nettle roots are firm and fibrous, with a slightly earthy scent and solid texture. After collection, they are thoroughly cleaned to remove soil, small stones, and other debris. Controlled low-temperature drying is carried out to preserve the natural colour, structural integrity, and fibrous characteristics of the roots. This ensures that the roots remain durable and retain their distinctive botanical features.
Once dried, the roots are cut and sifted into uniform pieces while removing broken fragments and fines. The resulting cut and sifted roots are free-flowing, consistent in size, and visually identifiable. The process preserves the natural texture and fibrous quality of the root, making it suitable for blending, storage, and incorporation into a variety of applications.
Nettle roots grow best in well-drained soils, meadows, forest edges, and other open areas where the plant receives partial to full sunlight. They are harvested from mature plants, ensuring uniformity and quality in the cut and sifted material. The resulting product maintains the natural botanical character of nettle roots while providing a convenient form for use.
Uses: Nettle Root C/S is used in herbal and botanical blends, tea-style infusions, craft projects, cosmetic and personal care formulations, decorative botanical displays, and educational herb collections. The uniform cut and sifted form allow for easy handling, blending, and measurement. Its natural brown colour, fibrous texture, and identifiable root structure make it suitable for applications where visual authenticity and botanical integrity are important.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
