Description: Mullein is a biennial or short-lived perennial herb native to Europe, North Africa, and parts of Asia, and it has been widely introduced to North America and other temperate regions. The plant grows 1–2.5 metres tall and begins with a basal rosette of large, soft, woolly leaves in the first year. In the second year, an upright flowering stem emerges. The leaves are thick, densely covered with fine white hairs, giving them a velvety texture, and are medium to light green on the upper surface with a silvery-white underside. The margins of the leaves are slightly wavy or serrated, and the shape is broadly ovate to lanceolate. Leaves are harvested when fully matured to retain natural shape, texture, and colour.

Fresh mullein leaves are soft, pliable, and slightly aromatic with a mild, earthy scent. They are robust yet lightweight, making them easy to handle. Once harvested, the leaves are carefully cleaned to remove dust, debris, and coarse stems. They are then dried under controlled low-temperature conditions to preserve their natural green colour, fine velvety texture, and characteristic soft leaf hairs. This process maintains the leaves’ identifiable features while preventing discoloration or brittleness.

After drying, the leaves are cut and sifted into uniform pieces, resulting in a clean, free-flowing herbal ingredient. The cut and sifted leaves retain the velvety texture, visible leaf veins, and natural variations of size and shape, ensuring that the botanical authenticity is preserved. The preparation produces a visually appealing and easy to handle product suitable for blending, storage, or further processing.

Mullein thrives in well-drained soils, open fields, meadows, and disturbed areas, preferring full sunlight. The plant is hardy and can tolerate a range of soil types from sandy to loamy. Leaves can be harvested multiple times during the growing season if proper care is taken to preserve plant health, making it a sustainable and reliable source of uniform, high-quality leaf material.

Uses: Mullein Leaves C/S are used in tea-style infusions, herbal and botanical blends, culinary preparations such as seasoning or dried herb mixes, craft projects, cosmetic formulations, decorative displays, and educational herb collections. The cut and sifted leaf pieces provide natural texture and visual interest, allowing for even blending in infusions, dry mixes, or decorative arrangements. The velvety green leaves are suitable for cosmetic formulations where botanical appearance or texture is desired, and their identifiable leaf structure makes them useful for educational purposes to illustrate leaf morphology, texture, and botanical characteristics. The uniform size, free-flowing texture, and preserved leaf structure allow for ease of storage, handling, and consistent presentation in all applications.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
