English Name: Mugwort Herb Tea

French Name: Thé d’Armoise

Also Known As: Artemisia Tea, Common Mugwort Tea, Mugwort Herbal Tea, Wormwood Tea

Part Used: Aerial parts (leaves and flowering tops) of Artemisia vulgaris

Description: Mugwort Herb Tea is a loose-leaf herbal infusion made from the dried aerial parts of Artemisia vulgaris, a perennial herb native to Europe, Asia, and North America. The plant grows upright and can reach heights of 0.6 to 1.5 meters, with green to grayish-green leaves that are deeply lobed and aromatic, and small, inconspicuous yellow-green flowers that bloom in late summer. Mugwort is a hardy perennial, regenerating from its root system each year, with aerial parts harvested during the flowering season for optimal flavor, aroma, and appearance. Harvesting typically occurs in late summer when leaves and flowering tops are mature and fragrant.

After harvesting, the aerial parts are carefully cleaned and gently dried to preserve their natural color, aroma, and subtle herbaceous flavor. Minimal processing is applied to maintain the integrity of the leaves and flowering tops. When brewed, Mugwort Herb Tea produces a light golden to pale green infusion with a mild, earthy, and slightly bitter aroma and a smooth, herbaceous flavor that is naturally robust yet approachable.

Uses: Mugwort Herb Tea can be enjoyed hot or cold. For a hot infusion, add one teaspoon of dried aerial parts to a cup of hot water and steep for 5 to 10 minutes, adjusting steeping time to taste. For iced tea, brew a stronger infusion, allow it to cool, and serve over ice. Mugwort can also be blended with other mild herbs or flowers to create herbal tea blends with layered aroma and flavor. Longer simmering can produce a slightly stronger, more concentrated infusion suitable for creative beverage recipes.

Mugwort Herb Tea pairs well with complementary herbs such as chamomile, peppermint, lemon balm, or hibiscus to enhance aroma and balance the earthy base flavor. Light sweeteners like honey or agave may be added to taste. The brewed infusion can also be used in herbal blends, culinary beverages, or decorative tea presentations where a mild, aromatic herbal flavor is desired. Its smooth, herbaceous character and gentle aroma make it suitable for daily enjoyment, herbal tea collections, or relaxing tea rituals.

Storage: In a cool, dry space, sealed against the elements as much as possible.
