Botanical Name: Garcinia mangostana

Country of Origin: Vietnam

English Name: Mangosteen Powder

French Name: Poudre de Mangoustan

Also Known As: Mangosteen Fruit Powder, Dried Mangosteen Powder, Garcinia mangostana Powder

Part Used: Dried fruit pulp and rind of Garcinia mangostana

Description: Mangosteen is a slow-growing evergreen tropical tree native to Southeast Asia, typically reaching 6–25 metres in height with dense dark green foliage and thick, leathery leaves. The tree produces round purple fruits with a firm outer rind and soft white segmented pulp inside. Fruits are harvested seasonally when fully ripe, selected for their deep purple colour, intact rind, and natural firmness to preserve the plant’s distinctive botanical character.

The fruit has a smooth, glossy outer skin and a pale, fibrous interior once dried. After dehydration, the fruit material becomes firm and brittle, retaining its natural colour contrast and identifiable structure. The dried material is suitable for milling into powder while maintaining consistent colour and texture for uniform blending in dry applications.

After harvesting, the fruits are cleaned and the usable portions are separated from extraneous matter. They are then dried under controlled low-temperature conditions to preserve natural colour and texture. Once fully dried, the material is finely milled and sieved to remove coarse particles, resulting in a clean, free-flowing powder suitable for blending and storage.

Uses: Mangosteen Powder is used in tea-style infusions, herbal and botanical blends, beverage bases, culinary preparations, natural colouring projects, craft work, cosmetic formulations, decorative displays, and educational herb collections. Its fine texture allows it to mix evenly into dry blends, infused liquids, and creative projects where fruit-derived colour, appearance, and botanical identity are desired.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
