Description: Lomatium is a perennial herb native to western North America, typically growing 30–100 cm tall with branching stems and finely divided green leaves. The plant produces small umbels of yellow flowers during late spring to early summer. The roots are harvested after the growing season when they reach full maturity, preserving their natural colour, firmness, and structural integrity.
The roots are thick, fibrous, and pale brown with a slightly rough surface. Once dried, they retain their natural texture and shape. Cutting and sifting the roots produces uniform pieces with visible fibrous structure, making them easily identifiable as Lomatium root while providing a consistent form suitable for blending and storage.
After harvesting, the roots are thoroughly cleaned to remove soil, debris, and extraneous material. They are dried using controlled low-temperature methods to maintain colour, texture, and botanical characteristics. Once fully dried, the roots are cut and sifted to remove fines and broken fragments, resulting in a clean, free-flowing ingredient suitable for multiple applications.
Uses: Lomatium Root C/S is used in tea-style infusions, herbal and botanical blends, culinary preparations, craft projects, cosmetic formulations, decorative displays, and educational herb collections. Its uniform cut pieces and natural texture make it suitable for blending into mixtures, infused preparations, and creative applications where botanical authenticity is important.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
