Botanical Name: Cymbopogon citratus

Country of Origin: Egypt

English Name: Lemongrass Powder

French Name: Poudre de Citronnelle

Also Known As: Dried Lemongrass Powder, Lemongrass Leaf Powder, Cymbopogon Powder

Part Used: Leaves and stalks of Cymbopogon citratus

Description: Lemongrass is a tall, perennial grass native to tropical Asia, commonly growing 1–2 metres tall with long, slender, bright green leaves and fibrous stalks. The plant produces small, inconspicuous flowers along the upper stems, and the aerial parts are harvested when fully mature to retain natural colour, texture, and aromatic properties.

The leaves and tender stalks have a firm texture and release a fresh, lemon-like scent when crushed. Once dried, the plant material retains its greenish colour and identifiable structure. The dried lemongrass is then milled into a fine, uniform powder that maintains the plant’s natural aroma and botanical character while providing a convenient form for blending and culinary use.

After harvesting, the leaves and stalks are cleaned to remove soil, debris, and extraneous material. They are dried using controlled low-temperature methods to preserve colour, texture, and aroma. Once fully dried, the material is milled and sieved to remove coarse fragments, resulting in a clean, free-flowing powder suitable for blending, storage, and multiple applications.

Uses: Lemongrass Powder is used in culinary recipes, tea-style infusions, herbal and botanical blends, craft projects, cosmetic formulations, seasoning mixes, decorative displays, and educational herb collections. Its fine texture allows it to mix easily into dry blends, infused preparations, and creative applications where natural aroma and plant-based character are desired.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
