Description: Job’s Tears is an annual grass native to Southeast Asia, widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions. The plant typically grows 1–2 meters tall with erect stems and long, lance-shaped leaves that form dense clumps. The seeds are hard, smooth, and tear-shaped, developing in clusters along the stem. Harvesting occurs when the seeds are fully mature to ensure natural colour, shape, and integrity are preserved.
The seeds have a shiny, smooth surface and a uniform tear-like shape, with colours ranging from pale cream to light brown. Each seed is relatively firm, making it suitable for cutting and sifting into uniform pieces. The plant grows upright in well-drained soils, producing multiple seed clusters per stalk. Mature seeds are collected during the harvesting season when they are fully formed but before any natural splitting occurs, maintaining their identifiable botanical structure.
After harvesting, the seeds are cleaned to remove debris, dust, and broken or immature seeds. They are then dried using controlled low-temperature methods to preserve colour and texture. Once dried, the seeds are cut and sifted into uniform pieces, and fines or broken fragments are removed. The resulting product is a clean, free flowing botanical ingredient suitable for blending, storage, and a variety of applications.
Uses: Job’s Tears C/S is used in tea-style infusions, herbal and botanical blends, culinary recipes, craft projects, decorative displays, and educational herb collections. Its identifiable seed pieces make it suitable for infused preparations, botanical mixtures, and creative applications where the natural form of the seeds is desired.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
