Description: Ginger is a tropical perennial plant that grows from thick, fibrous rhizomes, reaching heights of 1–1.5 metres. It produces long, narrow, lance-shaped green leaves and slender stems that bear greenish-yellow flowers during the growing season. Native to Southeast Asia and widely cultivated in India, China, and other tropical regions, ginger thrives in warm, humid climates with rich, well-drained soils. The rhizomes develop full flavour, aroma, and fibrous structure after 8–10 months of growth, at which point they are harvested specifically for culinary and infusion uses.
The harvested rhizomes are carefully cleaned, peeled, and sliced or dried whole. They are then gently dehydrated under controlled low-temperature conditions to preserve the natural colour, texture, and characteristic warm aroma. The dried ginger is suitable for slicing, grinding, or blending, and retains its natural fibrous structure and pungent fragrance, making it ideal for tea preparation.
The ginger used in tea is cut into uniform pieces to ensure even steeping and flavour release. The processed ginger is light to pale brown in colour, clean, and free-flowing, providing convenience for brewing and blending with other herbs or spices. Its natural aroma and texture are preserved for optimal infusion quality.
Uses: Ginger Tea is used for preparing hot or cold infusions, alone or blended with other herbs and spices. It is suitable for culinary experimentation, spiced tea blends, herbal sachets, beverage preparations, and decorative tea kits. It can also be used in creative herbal projects, infused drinks, and culinary presentations where dried ginger provides a visually appealing, aromatic, and flavourful ingredient.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
