Description: Galangal is a perennial tropical plant that grows from thick underground rhizomes and typically reaches heights of 1.5 to 2 metres. The plant produces long, narrow, glossy green leaves and upright flowering stalks bearing pale green to white blossoms with reddish markings. It thrives in warm, humid climates and is widely cultivated throughout Southeast Asia, particularly in Thailand, Indonesia, and surrounding regions.
Mature rhizomes are harvested from the soil once they reach full size, then thoroughly washed to remove natural residues. The roots are sliced and dried using controlled low-temperature methods to preserve their firm texture and characteristic pale golden colour.
After drying, the rhizome slices are finely milled into a smooth, free-flowing powder. The finished product displays a light tan to yellowish tone with a consistent grind, allowing for uniform blending and accurate portioning in culinary and botanical formulations.
Uses: Galangal Root Powder is used in curry blends, spice rubs, seasoning mixes, soup bases, marinades, flavouring pastes, infused liquids, and tea-style preparations where a finely ground aromatic root ingredient is preferred for consistent texture and even distribution.
