Part Used: Dried leaves of Ribes nigrum, cut and sifted

Description: Blackcurrant Leaves C/S are produced from the dried leaves of Ribes nigrum, a deciduous shrub native to northern and central Europe and widely cultivated in temperate regions. The plant grows as a compact shrub reaching 1–2 meters in height, forming broad, lobed leaves with a lightly textured surface. Leaves are harvested during active growth, thoroughly cleaned to remove natural field residue, and dried to retain their green to olive colour. After drying, the material is cut into uniform leaf pieces and sifted to create a consistent botanical ingredient.

Ribes nigrum shrubs develop dense foliage during the growing season, with leaves arranged alternately along slender branches. When dried and processed, the leaves maintain much of their original shape, natural tones, and characteristic plant aroma. The cut-and-sifted form produces manageable fragments that incorporate easily into blends, visual displays, and creative botanical applications.

The harvested leaves are washed, dried using controlled warm-air or air-drying methods, and mechanically cut and sifted to achieve uniformity. The final material reflects the natural texture, structure, and appearance of the original foliage.

Uses: Blackcurrant Leaves C/S are used in seasoning blends, homemade tea-style beverages, culinary infusions, and natural flavouring mixtures where dried leafy botanicals are desired. They are also suitable for decorative jar arrangements, potpourri-style blends, botanical craft projects, resin art, and educational herb kits. The light leafy texture and natural colour make them useful in creative formulations, visual displays, and projects requiring dried plant material with a subtle, naturally aromatic profile.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
