Botanical Name: Juglans Nigra

Country of Origin: USA

English Name: Black Walnut Hull

Hindi Name: Akhrot Chhal

Also Known As: Black Walnut Hull Cut & Sifted, Juglans nigra Hull C/S, Akhrot Hull C/S

Part Used: Dried hull of Juglans nigra, cut and sifted

Description: Black Walnut Hull C/S is produced from the dried hulls of Juglans nigra, a deciduous tree native to North America. The outer hulls are collected when mature, cleaned to remove natural debris, and dried to preserve their rich brown to dark brown colour. Once fully dried, the hulls are cut into small pieces and sifted to achieve a uniform botanical material suitable for craft, colouring, and formulation uses.

Juglans nigra develops thick, fleshy hulls around its nuts, which darken as they mature. When dried and processed, the hulls retain their coarse texture, deep earthy tones, and natural irregular shapes. The cut-and-sifted form allows for easy incorporation into botanical blends, visual displays, and educational materials.

Fresh hulls are washed, dried using controlled warm-air or low-temperature methods, and then mechanically cut and sifted to remove dust and create an even grade. No additives, fillers, or processing agents are used, resulting in a pure plant-based material composed solely of dried walnut hull.

Uses: Black Walnut Hull C/S is used in natural colouring applications, botanical craft projects, resin art, decorative jar displays, and educational herb kits. Its deep colour and coarse texture make it suitable for projects requiring visually rich plant material.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
