Botanical Name: Astragalus membranaceus

Country of Origin: China

Also Known As: Astragalus Root Cut & Sifted, Astragalus membranaceus Root

Part Used: Dried roots of Astragalus membranaceus, cut and sifted

Description: Astragalus Root C/S is produced from the dried roots of Astragalus membranaceus, a perennial legume native to northern China, Mongolia, and adjacent regions with temperate climates. The roots are firm, fibrous, and pale yellow to light beige in colour, retaining their natural woody texture once dried and cut. The cut-and-sifted form consists of small root pieces that highlight the plant’s characteristic structure and appearance.

Production begins with the harvesting of mature roots, which are cleaned thoroughly to remove soil and natural field material. The roots are then dried under controlled conditions to reduce moisture while preserving their natural colour and fibre density. After drying, the roots are mechanically cut into small, uniform pieces and sifted to remove fines and ensure consistency in size. The resulting material is a stable, unaltered botanical root product with no additives or further processing applied.

Uses: Astragalus Root C/S is used in crafting, botanical displays, potpourri blends, resin embedding, and educational herb projects. Its natural colour, woody texture, and recognisable root form make it suitable for decorative and creative applications that incorporate whole or cut plant materials.

The cut pieces blend well into visual craft compositions, thematic herbal displays, and other non-culinary projects that rely on the aesthetic and structural qualities of dried botanicals.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
