Botanical Name: Withania somnifera

Country of Origin: India

Also Known As: Withania somnifera Root Cut & Sift, Winter Cherry Root, Ashwagandha Root Pieces

Part Used: Dried roots of Withania somnifera, cut and sifted

Description: Ashwagandha Root C/S is produced from the mature roots of Withania somnifera, a plant cultivated across arid and semi-tropical regions of India, the Middle East, and parts of Africa. The roots naturally display a beige to light brown colour and a firm, fibrous structure. After processing, the cut-and-sifted form consists of small root pieces with a coarse, irregular texture that maintains the natural appearance and integrity of the dried root.

Production begins with harvesting fully developed roots from cultivated plants. The roots are thoroughly washed to remove soil and natural field material, then trimmed to remove excess stem portions. Drying is carried out using controlled warm-air systems or shade-drying methods, which reduce moisture content while preserving the root’s structural qualities. Once dried, the roots are mechanically cut into uniform pieces and sifted to remove dust and overly fine particles. This process produces a stable, plant-based material in its natural, non-powdered form.

Uses: Ashwagandha Root C/S is used in crafting, botanical displays, potpourri-style blends, resin work, and educational herb projects.

Its coarse texture and natural root appearance make it suitable for decorative applications, visual demonstrations, and creative formulations that incorporate whole or cut botanical materials. The intact root pieces provide a distinct structural element valued in artistic, craft, and instructional settings that require dried plant segments.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
